By booking a lesson, purchasing a program, buying a gift voucher, submitting an enquiry, or attending a StartDJing session, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

1. About StartDJing
StartDJing provides DJ lessons, beginner DJ programs, private coaching, group sessions, online lessons, mentoring, workshops and related music education experiences.
Our lessons are designed to help students build practical DJ skills, confidence, music knowledge and performance ability in a structured and supportive learning environment.
2. Who these terms apply to
These Terms & Conditions apply to:
- students who book or attend StartDJing lessons
- parents or guardians booking on behalf of a student
- people purchasing lessons or programs as a gift
- people purchasing or redeeming gift vouchers
- anyone attending a StartDJing lesson, session, workshop or event
If a student is under 18, a parent or guardian must approve the booking and accept these Terms & Conditions on the student's behalf.
3. Bookings and enrolment
A booking is confirmed once payment has been received, or once StartDJing has confirmed the booking in writing.
Lesson times, instructors and locations are subject to availability.
StartDJing may request information before a lesson to help us understand the student's experience level, goals, preferred music styles and any learning needs that may help us deliver a better session.
Students are responsible for providing accurate booking details, including contact information, location preference and availability.
4. Program inclusions
Each program includes the number of lessons, lesson length, format and inclusions described on the relevant StartDJing page, quote, invoice, email or booking confirmation at the time of purchase.
StartDJing may update program names, inclusions, pricing or lesson structures over time. If a student has already booked and paid for a confirmed program, we will make reasonable efforts to honour the agreed lesson value or provide an equivalent alternative.
Programs may include practical DJ instruction, guided exercises, music selection support, mixing fundamentals, technical guidance, mentoring and other relevant learning activities.
5. Payments
Prices are shown in Australian dollars.
Payment must be made before the first lesson unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Where GST applies, this will be shown on the invoice or payment page.
StartDJing may offer different payment options depending on the program, lesson type or location.
Payments may be processed through secure third-party payment providers, including Stripe. StartDJing does not store full card details on its own website. Payment processing is subject to the relevant third-party provider's terms, security and privacy practices.
A lesson, program or voucher is not confirmed until payment has been received or StartDJing has confirmed the arrangement in writing.
6. Cancellations and rescheduling by students
We understand plans change. If you need to reschedule a lesson, please give us at least 24 hours' notice.
Where at least 24 hours' notice is provided, we will make reasonable efforts to move the lesson to another available time.
If less than 24 hours' notice is provided, or if the student does not attend the session, the lesson may be treated as used.
StartDJing may make exceptions at its discretion for illness, emergencies or other reasonable circumstances.
Repeated cancellations, late arrivals or missed lessons may affect a student's ability to continue in a scheduled program.
7. Cancellations or rescheduling by StartDJing
If StartDJing needs to reschedule a lesson due to instructor availability, venue issues, illness, safety concerns or other operational reasons, we will contact the student or parent/guardian as soon as reasonably possible.
Where StartDJing reschedules a lesson, we will offer an alternative time where possible.
If we cannot provide a suitable alternative, we may provide a credit, replacement lesson, partial refund or full refund depending on the situation.
8. Late arrival
Students should arrive on time for their lesson.
If a student arrives late, the lesson may still need to finish at the scheduled end time to avoid affecting other bookings.
If StartDJing or the instructor is running late, we will make reasonable efforts to provide the full lesson time or arrange a suitable adjustment.
9. Refunds
Refunds are handled in accordance with Australian Consumer Law.
You are not automatically entitled to a refund if you change your mind, choose not to attend, find a cheaper alternative elsewhere, no longer wish to continue, or decide the program is not suitable after booking.
However, if there is a major problem with the service, or if the service is not provided with due care and skill, is not fit for purpose, or is not delivered within a reasonable time, you may be entitled to a remedy under Australian Consumer Law.
Depending on the situation, this may include a replacement lesson, credit, partial refund or full refund.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits any rights you may have under Australian Consumer Law.
10. Gift vouchers
Gift vouchers can be used toward eligible StartDJing lessons, introductory sessions, private lessons or programs.
Gift vouchers are not redeemable for cash.
Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase unless otherwise required by law.
Bookings made with a gift voucher are subject to instructor, lesson type and location availability.
If the selected lesson or program costs more than the gift voucher value, the difference must be paid before the lesson.
If the selected lesson or program costs less than the gift voucher value, the remaining balance may be used toward another eligible StartDJing session.
Gift vouchers should be treated like cash. StartDJing is not responsible for lost, stolen or misused voucher details unless required by law.
11. Lesson locations
StartDJing may offer lessons in selected physical locations, online, or through other agreed arrangements.
Available lesson locations may change over time.
A booking is only confirmed for a particular location once StartDJing has confirmed the lesson details.
If a location becomes unavailable, StartDJing may offer an alternative location, online lesson, credit, replacement lesson or refund where appropriate.
12. Online lessons
Online lessons require a stable internet connection, suitable device, working audio and any agreed software or equipment.
StartDJing is not responsible for issues caused by the student's internet connection, device, software, home setup or third-party platforms.
If technical issues prevent a lesson from proceeding and the issue is outside the student's control, StartDJing may offer a reasonable reschedule at its discretion.
Students should test their setup before an online lesson where possible.
13. Equipment
StartDJing may provide access to DJ equipment during lessons where available.
Students are not required to own DJ equipment before starting unless a specific program states otherwise.
Students must follow instructor guidance when using equipment.
Students may be responsible for damage caused intentionally, recklessly or through failure to follow reasonable instructions.
14. Student conduct and safety
Students are expected to treat instructors, other students, equipment, venues and learning environments with respect.
StartDJing may refuse, pause, reschedule or cancel a lesson if behaviour is unsafe, aggressive, discriminatory, disruptive, inappropriate or damaging to equipment or property.
Students must not attend lessons under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Students must follow reasonable safety instructions provided by StartDJing, instructors or venue staff.
15. Students under 18
Students under 18 must have consent from a parent or guardian before booking or attending lessons.
A parent or guardian may be required to complete the booking, provide emergency contact details and approve attendance.
Depending on the student's age, lesson location or session format, StartDJing may require a parent or guardian to remain onsite, nearby or contactable during the lesson.
Parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring the student arrives safely and is collected on time.
16. Health, wellbeing and learning needs
StartDJing aims to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Students, parents or guardians should tell us about any relevant learning needs, health considerations, accessibility needs or support requirements that may affect participation in a lesson.
This helps us plan appropriately and support the student where reasonably possible.
StartDJing may recommend a different lesson format, lesson length, program structure or support arrangement if we believe it will create a better learning experience.
17. Photos, videos and testimonials
StartDJing may ask to take photos, videos or testimonials for marketing, social media, website content or educational purposes.
We will not use identifiable images, videos or testimonials of students under 18 without parent or guardian consent.
Students, parents and guardians can decline media consent without affecting lesson participation.
Any media consent can be withdrawn in writing. If consent is withdrawn, StartDJing will make reasonable efforts to stop future use of the relevant material, but may not be able to remove content already distributed, printed, shared or published by third parties.
18. Results and progress
StartDJing provides structured DJ education, mentoring and practical learning support.
Individual progress depends on attendance, practice, confidence, effort, learning style, prior experience and personal goals.
StartDJing does not guarantee that a student will become a professional DJ, secure paid work, perform publicly, gain industry opportunities or achieve a specific outcome by completing a lesson or program.
19. Changes to programs, instructors or content
StartDJing may update lesson content, instructors, locations, formats, pricing or program structures from time to time.
Where a student has already paid for a confirmed program, StartDJing will make reasonable efforts to provide the agreed lesson value or an equivalent alternative.
StartDJing may substitute an instructor where required due to availability, illness, scheduling conflicts or operational needs.
20. Intellectual property
All StartDJing lesson materials, exercises, documents, frameworks, program structures, website content, images, videos, branding and other materials remain the property of StartDJing or its licensors unless otherwise stated.
Students may use lesson materials for personal learning only.
Students must not copy, reproduce, sell, publish, distribute or commercially exploit StartDJing materials without written permission.
21. Third-party music, software, payment providers and platforms
DJ lessons may involve the use of music, DJ software, streaming platforms, hardware, apps or other third-party tools.
Students are responsible for complying with any third-party terms, licences or account requirements that apply to their own music, software, hardware or platform use.
Payments may also involve third-party payment providers, including Stripe.
StartDJing is not responsible for changes, outages, restrictions, costs or issues caused by third-party tools, platforms or payment providers.
22. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, StartDJing is not liable for indirect loss, loss of income, loss of opportunity, loss of data, loss of enjoyment, or other consequential loss arising from participation in lessons, programs, workshops or events.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
23. Privacy
StartDJing collects and handles personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy.
This may include names, contact details, booking information, student goals, parent or guardian details, lesson preferences and related information needed to provide our services.
Please refer to our Privacy Policy for more information.
24. Website information
We aim to keep information on StartDJing.com accurate and up to date.
However, website content may change from time to time, including program descriptions, prices, lesson formats, availability and locations.
If there is a difference between general website information and a specific written booking confirmation, quote or invoice, the written booking confirmation, quote or invoice will usually apply to that booking.
